The work is inspired by morning drills at a high school famous for its extremely high university admission rate. Students line up in rigid square formations, pressed tightly against one another with barely any space between bodies. To keep this tofu-like formation from falling apart, every student must move in perfect unison, shuffling forward slowly as a single collective body.Constructed from gauze, screws and small human figurines, the installation implies the passivity of every individual beneath the giant wheel of history. Beneath the firmament, the piece not only reflects the mental state of people swept along by invisible forces, but also poses an ultimate question about the shared fate of humankind.
