The artist pierces a thick, stiff steel rod straight through the chests of figurines wrapped with red thread and red gauze, then fastens more than a dozen figures onto the rod with two enormous nuts. These tiny red human forms are strung together like pieces of meat, cramped and pressed against one another in utterly unnatural, agonizing poses.

The synesthetic pain evoked by the work is not merely physical, but above all spiritual. Swept up in the torrent of the times, vulnerable human beings have no choice but to be carried passively forward by forces beyond their control.
